About Us
The Quad City Storm The Quad City Storm is a professional minor league hockey team to begin play in the 2018–19 season as a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) The team is based in the Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa with home games at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Illinois The team replaces the ECHL Quad City Mallards after the ownership ceased operations of the team in 2018.

Brian Rothenberger
Director of Communications
Brian Rothenberger is the Director of Communications, Social Media and Game Operations. He is mainly responsible for the media marketing aspect of the team. I worked closely with Brian to ensure a successful season and with this being the team's second season, the project brought a different aspect and zen to their marketing department.
After spending three years in network television Brian joined the Storm at the beginning of the inaugural season. A native Floridian and graduate of the University of South Florida, Brian comes to the Quad Cities by way of Bismarck, North Dakota where he worked as a live event broadcaster for the BEK Sports Network. As a former player and avid fan of the game of hockey, Brian is thrilled to be able to promote and grow the game as a member of the Storm!

Joe Kazmier
Director of Sales
Joe Kazmier is the director of sales for the Storm, He has been apart of the team since oe is entering his second season with the Quad City Storm staff after spending one season as an Account Executive with the Quad City Mallards. A native of Linden, Michigan, Joe graduated in 2016 from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management. Joe has worked for many hockey teams including the Flint Firebirds and Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League. In his free time Joe loves to golf, attend live sports and music, and watch hockey and football. His favorite teams to root for are the Detroit Red Wings and Lions. Joe works with local companies, non-profits, and other groups in the area and is excited to create an amazing experience for your group.

Gwen Tombergs
Team President
Gwen Tombergs joined the Quad City Storm as the first female President of hockey in the Quad Cities and the Southern Professional Hockey League. A native of Eldridge, Iowa, Gwen’s experience in promotions, sales and event marketing has led the team to bring back family fun so that fans don’t need to understand the game of hockey to enjoy coming to the games. She has worked for the CBA’s Quad City Thunder, the ECHL’s Richmond Renegades and the MLB’s New York Mets. Gwen is an avid volunteer and has been involved with numerous community nonprofit boards and committees. She received some of the highest honors for community service in 2019 when she won the Quad Cities Athena Award and AARP’s Andrus Award for Community Service for the State of Iowa. Gwen resides in Bettendorf with her husband, Dave.
